Position Description

Bark Frameworks, an employee-owned, custom frame shop that has been leading the industry since 1969, seeks a CEO to lead our employee-owned business to a successful future.

This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the company by working with management and staff to establish and meet financial and productivity goals, create budgets and forecast for valuations, maintain fiscal security, and manage executive staff. The candidate should be ethical, knowledgeable about business and finance, passionate about the arts, and able to inspire others through vision and principled leadership.

Our shop is located in Long Island City, Queens, and business hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am – 6 pm.  This position reports directly to the Bark Frameworks Board of Directors.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead preparation of annual budget and analytical/financial worksheets; communicate budget and financials to staff at monthly all-hands
  • Manage resources and oversee business operations in accordance with budget
  • Manage Production Manager, Director of HR and Marketing, Head of Design and Registration, and Bookkeeper; liaise with Accountant and Legal Counsel
  • Oversee cash flow
  • Prepare projections for annual ESOP valuation
  • Report on financials and company outlook at quarterly Board meetings
  • Monitor and manage banking relationships
  • Building and nurturing client relationships to grow business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in Business or Finance (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • At least five years experience in a senior management position reporting directly to company president or CEO.
  • Knowledge of production and manufacturing /productivity metrics.
  • Deep knowledge of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow management, general finance and budgeting.
  • Responsible self-starter and problem solver who is good in a crisis; ability to understand new issues and respond quickly; ability to make wise business and fiduciary decisions.
  • Experience with corporate governance.
  • Ability to inspire confidence, build consensus among the Board, management, and the workforce. Ethical leadership.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a profit-driven manufacturing environment.

Compensation

  • Annual salary range of $100 – $160K, dependent upon experience, skills, and availability.
