Position Description
Bark Frameworks, an employee-owned custom framing shop in Long Island City that has been leading the industry since 1969, seeks a full-time Design and Registration Associate to support the work of our Design and Registration departments. The candidate should be a team player with an excellent work ethic; good customer service skills; be knowledgeable about modern and contemporary art, design, and technology; and be able to handle artwork safely. Please note: This position reports to our Long Island City showroom five days a week from 9 am – 6 pm.
Responsibilities:
- Measure, condition check, and photograph incoming artwork using a departmental logistics calendar shared with the Designers;
- Safely move, wrap, and store art to be framed using Bark art handling procedures;
- Manage Design department’s Adobe, Articheck, and other software accounts by building relationships with company representatives; assist Designers with any technical issues related to these accounts;
- Work collaboratively on a daily basis with Registrar to ensure accuracy of all object locations for incoming and outgoing artwork in the database; assist Registrar with data input and paperwork related to art shipments as needed;
- Alongside Registrar, correspond with clients on logistical arrangements for daily in house and truck pickups and deliveries
- Answer phones and front door for clients/vendors (reception);
- Process website orders for framing hardware, if needed.
- Special projects (as needed).
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience in art handling at a gallery, museum or similar environment required;
- Proven ability to efficiently handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
- Team player happy to pitch in where needed and cross train;
- Ability to communicate effectively both with individual Designers and within the larger Design and Registration team;
- Experience with art management software and an interest in new developments in technology;
- Comfortable with answering phones/doors in a fast-paced business environment;
- Competency in Adobe Photoshop and fluency in MS Office;
- Background in fine art, art history, or design preferred;
- Comfortable lifting and handling large and sometimes heavy artworks (50 lbs).

Compensation
- $24 – $26/hr., based on experience and skill level
